Baja Whale WatchThis, my friends, is an unbelievable opportunity. Here is the final destination of a 7000 mile migration for hundreds of Gray Whales. They come here to the protected, shallow waters of the bay to give birth and raise their newborn calves. To get this close to these 30 to 40 ton mammals and their 2 to 3 ton infants, and to share in the trust...these pictures represent a landmark day, a landmark week in my life; unforgettable communication. Each of these whale watching/sea kayaking trips will be run by Mar Y Aventuras, one of Baja’s premier guiding companies, and a leader in Mexico’s conservation and eco-tourism efforts. I worked as a guide for Mar Y Aventuras in Baja for three years. I can tell you first hand that all of their trips are fun, informative, culturally enriching nature experiences...but their Magdalena Bay trip is by far the best! Learn all about it by going to their website at www.kayakbaja.com. I purposely chose the month of February because it’s the end of the whales stay, just before they start returning north. This is the time when the calves have had a couple months to grow and mature, and the mothers are therefore more trusting, the calves naturally curious, and the “friendly encounters” all the more possible. Trip dates can be scheduled so they wrap around the weekend, where kids will only miss a couple days of school at best; and certainly this educational and enlightening experience is well worth the time. I hope to see you down there! Surf Whale Watch/Sea Kayak trips run in February. To make a reservation, call (858) 663-7299 or email surf@menehunesurf.com |
