I've spent the last five years living and working on Catalina Island as the Director of the Catalina Environmental Leadership Program, a partnership between Catalina Island Camps and Jean-Michel Cousteau's non-profit organization, Ocean Futures. The opportunity to teach kids how to surf, kayak, and snorkel while helping them connect with the ocean and their natural environment is priceless. Having worked as a camp counselor, outdoor education instructor, summer camp director, and middle school teacher, I love watching kids develop new skills, gain confidence in themselves, make discoveries that "spark" thier imagination, and find activities that become life-long passions!
