Mark Heinze
I was born in Newport Beach, grew up in Santa Barbara, and started surfing in junior high school. I went to UCSB for undergraduate studies and surfed on the surf team. I went to the University of Hawaii for graduate level courses although my real reason for choosing a grad school in Hawaii was because of the surfing nearby. I moved to San Diego in 1982 to get my Teaching Credential and a Masters Degree in Political Science. I have been teaching for over 15 years and have been voted San Diego City and San Diego County Teacher of the Year. I have also been Wal Mart Teacher of the Year and a "top 10" finalist for over 15 summers. My surfing travels have taken me to Australia, Mexico, Tahiti, Fiji, and Samoa, and the Bahamas.
